Donald Delwin Roop
April 21, 1939 — Oct. 13, 2009

    Donald Delwin Roop died Oct. 13 at his Jamestown home of Parkinson’s Disease. He was 70.
    Mr. Roop was a self-employed candy and tobacco distributor for 40 years.
    He graduated from Merced High School in 1957 and married Terry Lynn Banks on June 17, 1960. They moved to Tuolumne County in 1962 and settled in Jamestown 38 years ago.
    His interests included boating, water skiing, camping at Highland Lake and packing horseback into the Emigrant Wilderness Area to fish. His family said he loved dove hunting and looked forward to the opening day each September.
    He was known by family and friends for a quick wit and dry sense of humor.
    Mr. Roop was preceded in death by his father, Donald Roop, in 1985; his mother, Geneva Roop, in 2001; and a sister, Jeanne Farinha, in 2003.
    He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Terry Roop, of Jamestown; children, Doni Rosasco and her husband, Nathan, of Jamestown, and Cort Roop of Huntington Park, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Lindsay Rosasco, Shelby Rosasco and Rachel Rosasco, all of Jamestown.
    Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Parkinson’s Institute, 675 Almanor Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94085.
    A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Dambacher Mountain Memorial Cemetery, 22394 Lyons Bald Mountain Road, Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Audrey Aileen Burch
July 3, 1930 — Oct. 13, 2009

    Former longtime Jamestown resident Audrey Aileen Burch died Oct. 13 at a Porterville hospital. She was 79.
    Mrs. Burch was born and raised in Niles, now a district in Fremont, Alameda County. She spent many years working on an apricot orchard owned by family on Mission Boulevard.
    After graduating from Washington High School in Fremont, she married Bobby Lee Gilmore, and they remained in Niles for many years. They also lived in Hayward and Fremont. They had two children, Deborah and Bobby.
    Her husband died at an early age, and she later married Kenneth Ray. They had two sons, Jeff and Steve, before they divorced.
    She later married John Burch, of Porterville, and they lived in Fremont, Sacramento, Jamestown and Porterville. They were married for 30 years.
    Family and friends were her main interest. She also enjoyed gardening, sports and animals. She was a San Francisco ‘49ers fan, enjoyed baseball and softball with her grandson, Craig, at Standard Park in Sonora, attending Tuolumne County Women’s Network with her daughter, and being involved at Sierra Bible Church.
    She spent 2008 and early 2009 at a Sonora care center, but left to spend her last days at her home in Porterville.
    She was preceded in death by her father, Troy Taylor, in 1984, and her mother, Margaret Taylor, in 1994.
    She is survived by her husband, John Burch, of Porterville; her daughter, Deborah Beyersdorf and her husband, Dale, of Sonora, a son, Bobby Gilmore and his wife, Loretta, of Meza, Ariz.; a son, Jeff Ray and his wife, Jenni, with Youth With a Mission Ministries in China, a son, Steve Ray, of Canon City, Colo.; and stepsons, Steve Burch, of Taft in Kern County, and Randy Burch and family, of Idaho; grandchildren, Angela Edwards and her husband, Donald, of San Bruno, Craig Erickson and his wife, Betsy, of Tuolumne, Eric Beyersdorf and his wife, Amy, of Reno (Eric is serving in the U.S. Air Force in Afghanistan), David Beyersdorf and his wife, Mao, of Fresno, and Tracy Bentley, of Jamestown; great-grandchildren, Sophia Edwards, of San Bruno, Amanda Pousard, of Jamestown, Emily Kelly, of Branson, Mo., Nicholas and Lilly Beyersdorf, of Fresno, Katie and Julia Bentley, of Fresno, Lydia Beyersdorf, of Reno, Trena, Tasha and Tara Lee Gilmore, of Meza, Ariz., and Jessica and Joshiah Ray, of Youth With a Mission, currently living in China.
    Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Myers Funeral Service and Crematory, 248 N. E St., Porterville. Myers is handling arrangements.

    CRANE — A celebration of life and dessert potluck for JoAnne “Jo” Crane, 75, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Sheriff’s Posse Building on Rawhide Road near Jamestown. She died Oct. 16 at her Sonora home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
