Rex Howell McBride June 29, 1954 — Sept. 26, 2009 Former Sonora resident Rex Howell McBride, of Modesto, died Sept. 26 at his mother’s home in Sonora after a long battle with cancer. He was 55. Mr. McBride lived in Sonora from the age of 3 until he was 19. He graduated from Soulsbyville Elementary School in 1968 and from Sonora High School in 1972, where he was active in football, baseball, wrestling and boxing. In addition to being an Eagle Scout, he was a Latter-day Saints missionary in Hawaii from 1973 to 1975. He became a finish carpenter and lived in Modesto for 34 years, where he was a scout leader, LDS missionary and an adviser to the Modesto North Stake of Latter-day Saints. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald McBride. He is survived by his mother, Bonita “Bonnie” McBride, of Sonora; brothers, Morris McBride and Sam McBride, both of Sonora; a sister and brother-in-law, Mariann and Justin Coyle, of Sonora; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Ryan Sharich, of St. George, Utah; and daughters, Aubrey McBride, of St. George, Utah, and Heidi McBride, of Las Vegas; and twin granddaughters, Chloe and Adelyn Sharich, of St. George, Utah. Condolences may be shared at http:// memoriesofrex.blogspot.com. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Dale Road in Modesto. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. at the church. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. the same day at Mountain Shadow Cemetery in Sonora. Arrangements are being handled by Eaton’s Mortuary of Modesto. Beth Ernestine ‘Mom’ Haupt Oct. 4, 1956 — Sept. 26, 2009 Beth Ernestine “Mom” Haupt died Sept. 26 at her Sonora area home. She was 52. Born in Waterloo, Iowa, she was a 20-year resident of Tuolumne County. She was a breeder of Yorkshire terriers and was known for being a caring, compassionate mother and counselor at Mountain Women’s Resource Center. She was preceded in death by close friend, Chris Domingo; and her mother, Betty Pauline Ullen Haupt. She is survived by her father, Ernest Haupt, of Hayward; children, U.S. Marine Pfc. Ernest Zebullon Haupt, of 29 Palms, Ashley May Bacon, of Nashville, Tenn., Angeline Meether of Sonora; grandchildren, Aza May Bacon, of Nashville, Tenn., and Alex Meether, of Sonora; three brothers; one sister; son-in-law, Rick Bacon, of Nashville; daughter-in-law, Deidre Toon, of Don Pedro; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. Terzich and Wilson is handling arrangements. McKINNON — A memorial service and luncheon for Shirley L. Brenton McKinnon, 56, of Greensburg,Ky., will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, at the home of her mother-in-law, Elsie Shaw Miller, 16500 Cornucopia Mine Road, in Soulsbyville. |
