Sheep Ranch pot bust nets 16K plants |
More than 16,000 marijuana plants were seized near the Sheep Ranch last Wednesday in a raid by the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department.
Warrants were served on several properties around Sheep Ranch Road and Fricot City Road in the operation, which brings to 38,306 the number of marijuana plants destroyed this summer in the county, according to a Sheriff’s Department statement. Typical of such raids, no one was arrested during the operation, but ammunition and other firearm-related equipment was found at the site, according to the statement. The site’s design bore the marks of a Mexican drug trafficking organization. The California Justice Department’s CAMP program — Campaign Against Marijuana Planting — and the California Department of Fish and Game participated in the raid. |
