Three men face multiple poaching charges for hunting within Yosemite National Park, according to park officials. Southern California residents Chad Gierlich, Chris Gierlich and Kyle Naraska allegedly poached multiple trophy-sized buck within park boundaries, officials said. It's illegal to hunt within Yosemite's borders. The investigation uncovered a complex, concerted effort by these individuals to illegally hunt within the park and kill trophy-sized buck, officials said. Search warrants resulted in the seizure of bows and arrows, and mounted kills, officials said. The investigation was conducted by Yosemite rangers, Pacific West Region special agents and California Department of Fish and Game wardens. "This is the most egregious case of illegal hunting we have uncovered here in Yosemite," chief park ranger Steve Shackelton said. The defendants are scheduled to appear in federal court in the next few weeks. |
