A community group opposed to the Trinitas golf course in the Valley Springs area has filed papers in Superior Court to intervene in the course owners’ suit against Calaveras County.
Keep It Rural Calaveras spokesman Lee Mayhew said the group will defend the county against Trinitas owners Michael and Michelle Nemee’s petition to overturn the county’s May denial of their Ospital Road golf resort project. “KIRC intends to show that there was substantial evidence to support the decision made by the Board of Supervisors,” Mayhew wrote. “KIRC further intends to continue to seek enforcement of county ordinances that require the golf course be removed and returned to its original The Nemees proposed building a clubhouse, lodge, spa and 13 luxury homes, but the county Board of Supervisors refused to rezone their land. The Nemees’ suit alleges county staff did not prepare the project’s environmental impact report correctly.
