Cal Fire plans Lily Valley burn |
Cal Fire will conduct a prescribed burn in the Lily Valley area east of West Point starting today.
It will include 6,342 acres divided up into 10- to 40-acre parcels. Burns are possible through June. One to two Cal Fire engines along with personnel from Sierra Pacific Industries will conduct the burn, called the Winton-Schaads Prescribed Burn. The goal of the burn is to help protect the communities of West Point, Wilseyville and Lilly Valley, as well as protect timber resources and the Mokelumne watershed. Conditions such as fuel moisture, temperatures, humidity and winds will determine if the burn moves forward as planned. |
