School board to fill seat, hire firm |
The Big Oak Flat-Grove- land Unified School District governing board will hold a special board meeting Wednesday night to interview people interested in filling a board seat vacated by Mary Kelly, who resigned in January. Applications must have been submitted by today at noon and the board will interview applicants and possibly select one at Wednesday night’s meeting. District Chief Business Official Tonya Midget will give the second interim budget report. The board will also vote to accept the 2007-2008 independent auditor’s report for the district’s finances and audit findings for the district’s general obligation bond from 2006 to 2008. The board will discuss, and possibly approve, hiring a consulting firm to reorganize the district. At the board’s last meeting, several district residents voiced their support of breaking Don Pedro off from the district. Trustees will vote to give the superintendent authorization to issue preliminary layoff notices to some staff members, which for teachers must legally be issued by March 15. Final notices are sent in May. |
